Spiritual Life of the Parish
Ghanaian Christian Mothers
This group of African parishioners meets once a month to read and discuss the liturgies for the forthcoming weekend Masses in their native language. Prayers are said followed by a short period of spiritual reflection and then hymns will be sung. After the prayers have been concluded, there is time to discuss general issues and for new members to be introduced. Representatives from this group contribute by singing during special parish church services. For more information, contact the Presbytery.
Prayer Group
The prayer group meets on a Thursday evening in the side church
at 8pm. Usually the group members will sit in a circle. The Holy
Eucharist is carried in from the tabernacle and is placed in the
centre of the group. The rosary is prayed followed by liturgical
readings chosen either from the coming Sunday’s gospel or
from ‘Bible Alive’. There is a short discussion followed
by some moments of silent reflection. Prayers are offered for special
intentions. This group would always welcome new members. For more
information, contact the Presbytery.
Ascent Group
This group is made up of senior parishioners who meet for a short
while in the Parish Centre, usually once per month to reflect on
the liturgies for the forthcoming Sunday Mass and to pray together.
After a time of spiritual reflection, refreshments are served as
well as a short period of socialising. For more information, contact
the Presbytery.
Exposition of Blessed Sacrament
Once a month.
Parish Novena
Each May there is a Novena (nine days of prayer) to Our Lady of
Perpetual Help. Visiting preachers are invited to preach at the
Novena, which has a different theme each year.
Pilgrimages
Each year the Parish organises a pilgrimage. Recent pilgrimages
have been to Lourdes, Rome, Assisi, Florence and Siena.
