Parish Music

The Parish has an active and lively musical background. There are currently three music groups that sing at various Masses and liturgies throughout the church year. The Director of Music is the Parish Organist and is responsible for all Parish Music and leads the Family Mass Choir and the Adult Choir.

The Family Mass Choir sings at the 10.30am Mass every Sunday and the music for this is aimed at the many families and children that attend this service. The age group of the Family Mass Choir is 7 years upwards. The Family Mass Choir rehearse on a Sunday morning from 9.45am.

The Adult Choir sing at the 12 noon Mass and perform a wide range of traditional and contemporary music. They sing at all major feast days and festivals throughout the church year and will on occasions be joined by the Family Mass Choir. The Adult Mass Choir rehearse on a Thursday evening from 7.00pm till 8.00pm

Joining the Choirs
We are always VERY KEEN to have new members in our choirs. If you have a child that is in year 2 or above and can read confidently and they would like to join, then please contact the Parish Secretary or the Director of Music. If you are interested in joining the Adult Choir please contact the Director of Music after the 12noon Mass. The commitment to both groups is attending the weekly rehearsal and singing at the appropriate Mass on a Sunday. It is not possible to sing at the Mass without attending the rehearsal.

Weddings and Funerals
The Director of Music is available to play at most weddings throughout the year. Arrangements for music at weddings are usually done in conjunction with the presiding priest. He is also available to play at evening funeral services but generally not during the working day. The Parish Secretary holds a list of other organists in the local area who are available during the day to play for funeral Masses and Services.
